Coalition Action Plans
To quickly accomplish this mission, C.R.T. has identified an innovative solution which meets both industry and independent owner/operator needs. The initial thrust of the plan is to assist the truck owner-operators with the replacement of 100 trucks serving the harbor with low emission vehicles. These vehicles will consist of LNG (Liquefied Natural Gas) vehicles, new 2007 model diesel trucks, and retrofitting newer models with cleaner engine technology to meet the standards of the Clean Air Action Plan.
- Total Transportation Services Inc. (TTSI) will assist the truck owner-operators in securing the funding necessary for them to lease-to-buy or outright purchase low-emission vehicles through a down payment loan and/or by obtaining public grant funds.
- NYK Line, Target, and other members will be prepared to contribute to higher adjusted market freight rates in order to compensate the owner operators for the added costs.
- The C.R.T. will encourage industry partners to replace existing trucks with low emission vehicles or upgrade them with cleaner engine technology, to communicate its mission, and to expand the membership of the coalition.
C.R.T. encourages and invites shippers, trucking companies and ocean carriers to join the Coalition so we can collectively provide cleaner, safer and more reliable drayage service at the Ports of Los Angeles and Long Beach. <<Back
